Shawn Muench is a pianist, percussionist, and producer from the Eau Claire, WI region. As a pianist he’s worked with hundreds of collaborators in art song and duo repertoire and is a sought-after ensemble and opera/musical theater accompanist. Collaborators note his exceptional flexibility with conductors and attention to the needs of others.
Shawn’s performance credits in Eau Claire include recorded concerts with Chorale Nouveau, performances at Pablo Center for the Arts with UWEC Women’s Chorus, 4+ years of opera workshops at UWEC, touring shows of Brundibar and Wind in the Willows, a run of Cendrillon, and serving as rehearsal accompanist for Orpheus in the Underworld and Guys and Dolls. Shawn has performed at MN and WI regional honor choirs under the direction of Frank Watkins. Eau Claire’s Viennese Ball features art song and opera scenes with Shawn as accompanist from 2023-2025.
In summer 2025 Shawn performed twice at Interlochen Center for the Arts in the Upton-Morley High School Music Theater Showcase, and served as rehearsal accompanist for two three week sessions. Shawn’s playing is featured on recordings with Mountain Scholar,
Novemthree, and for The Burrow.
As a percussionist, he performed five front ensemble seasons with MN Brass and a 2014 season with Phantom Regiment. Shawn has premiered “Show Us How to Live” by Baljinder Singh Sekhon, II at PASIC. In 2015 he performed Inuksuit at Tippet Rise in Montana under the direction of Jeff Crowell and Doug Perkins. Shawn plays percussion with Eau Claire orchestras CVSO, ECCO, and has performed the Sejourne Vibraphone Concerto with the Red Cedar
Symphony as a competition winner.
Shawn holds a bachelor’s degree in music education (percussion) from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire and is pursuing a master of music degree from Bowling Green State University in collaborative piano. His primary teachers are Jeff Crowell, Namji Kim, and Yevgeny Yontov.
